Our FAQ for First-Timers
Do I have to make an appointment?
Because we have appointments available every 10 minutes we are often able to fit you in. Community acupuncture works best when we work as a community and it’ helps us at Stuck out if we know what to expect. If you want to try to come in the same day check our online schedule and book or give a quick call or text to see if we can fit you in.
What should I wear? Will I have to take my clothes off?
Please stay clothed! We may sometimes need to access points on the upper leg or arm, so if that tends to be the case please wear loose fitting shorts and a t-shirt. Otherwise, just wearing pants and a loose fitting shirt with sleeves that can be rolled up works perfectly for us.
How long is the first appointment?
In community acupuncture it’s all about you. At the first appointment we will probably chat a little longer, but once the needles are in it’s up to you. Most people like to rest with the needles in for 45 minutes but you can leave them in for as little as 20 and still get good results. If you need to be woken up at a certain time, just let your acupuncturist know and she’ll be sure to wake you.
Where do I put my stuff?
Bring all your stuff with you you to your treatment room, we have bins for you to store it next to your recliner during your treatment. Please keep your shoes on until you are sitting in the recliner.
Can I eat or drink before my treatment?
It’s best not to have either an empty or an overly full stomach before a treatment, but . If you show up hungry we have snacks for purchase. Always stay hydrated, but you may want to use the restroom before the needles go in.
Should I bring anything?
More often than not Community Acupuncture involves groups of people napping. As a result we are a pretty “snore friendly” environment. We have ear plugs for those who need it, but many people chose to bring their own music and headphones to listen to during their treatment.
We have pillows and blankets, but if you prefer to bring your own you are welcome to do so.
Do you re-use needles?
No. Never. All of our needles are sterile, one-use disposable needles. Once needles are removed they are disposed of in the biohazard containers you see around the room and never seen again.
